About CIGRE Canada

Ampacimon is proud to announce its participation in the CIGRE Canada 2025 International Symposium, taking place from September 29 to October 3 at the Palais des congrès de Montréal, Quebec. This internationally recognized event is a cornerstone for professionals in the power systems industry, offering a platform to exchange ideas, showcase innovations, and discuss the future of energy transmission and distribution. With over 1,200 attendees expected, including engineers, researchers, and utility leaders, the symposium will feature more than 250 technical papers and 90 exhibitors. Ampacimon’s presence at this event underscores our commitment to advancing Dynamic Line Rating (DLR) technologies and supporting utilities in their journey toward smarter, more resilient grids. For full event details, visit the CIGRE Canada website.

CIGRE Canada is more than just a technical conference—it’s a strategic gathering of minds shaping the future of electricity. The event fosters collaboration between utilities, technology providers, academic institutions, and policymakers. As the energy sector faces increasing pressure to decarbonize and modernize, events like this play a vital role in accelerating innovation and knowledge sharing. Ampacimon is honored to contribute to this dialogue and showcase how our DLR solutions are helping utilities meet today’s challenges with tomorrow’s technology.

Presenting cutting-edge research in Dynamic Line Rating

Paper presentation on Dynamic Line Rating

One of the highlights of Ampacimon’s participation is the presentation of a new research paper by our Data Scientist, Alexandre Baré, titled “A Scalable Method for Forecasting Wind and Dynamic Line Ratings Using Regional Machine Learning Models Trained on Multiple Sensor-Equipped Spans.” This paper introduces a novel methodology for extrapolating DLR and wind conditions using Machine Learning models that are trained across multiple sensors scattered over a region at different transmission spans. The approach is designed to offer a more scalable, yet robust, option to equip the power grid with DLR at a faster pace than by installing sensors on every line. This should offer utilities a powerful tool for enhancing operational efficiency and integrating renewable energy sources.

By leveraging regional data and advanced analytics, this method also allows utilities to anticipate line capacity with greater precision, even in complex weather conditions. Alexandre’s presentation will provide valuable insights into how sensor-based extrapolation can transform grid management and support the deployment of Dynamic Line Rating as a core component of modern transmission systems. Attendees will gain a deeper understanding of how predictive modeling can reduce operational risk, improve asset utilization, and support the transition to a more dynamic and responsive grid.

Discover Ampacimon’s DLR solutions at booth 720

Ampacimon invites all attendees to visit Booth 720 in the exhibitor area, where our team will be showcasing the full spectrum of our Dynamic Line Rating solutions. These include both sensorless DLR, which uses weather data and advanced modeling to estimate line capacity without physical hardware, and sensor-based DLR, which relies on real-time measurements from our patented vibration-based sensors. Our solutions are designed to help utilities unlock hidden transmission capacity, reduce congestion, and defer costly infrastructure upgrades.

A key innovation on display will be the Sense X Sensor, a compact, drone-installable device that enables fast and safe deployment on live high-voltage lines. This technology eliminates the need for outages or manual installation, making it ideal for utilities seeking rapid scalability. Sense X combines precision engineering with ease of deployment, offering a breakthrough in how utilities monitor and manage transmission assets. Learn more about our offerings by visiting our product pages: Sensorless DLR, Sensor-based DLR, and Sense X.

Our booth will also feature live demonstrations, interactive displays, and opportunities to speak directly with our engineers and product specialists. Whether you're exploring DLR for the first time or looking to scale an existing deployment, our team will be available to answer questions and provide tailored recommendations.

Strategic partnerships driving innovation

Ampacimon’s success in deploying advanced DLR solutions is strengthened by strategic partnerships with industry leaders. At CIGRE Canada, we are proud to highlight our collaboration with DroneVolt, a global expert in drone technology and aerial robotics. Exhibiting at Booth 124, DroneVolt plays a critical role in enabling the drone-based installation of our Sense X sensors, offering utilities a safe, efficient, and cost-effective alternative to traditional methods.

We also celebrate our ongoing partnerships with Canadian utilities such as Hydro-Québec and Nova Scotia Power, who are leveraging Ampacimon’s technologies to improve grid reliability, enhance operational flexibility, and support the integration of renewable energy. These collaborations reflect our shared commitment to innovation and sustainability in the Canadian energy landscape. By working closely with local utilities and technology partners, Ampacimon ensures that our solutions are not only technically robust but also aligned with the operational realities of the Canadian grid.

We look forward to connecting with you in Montréal and exploring how Ampacimon can support your grid modernization journey.

Why Dynamic Line Rating matters for the future grid

Dynamic Line Rating is rapidly becoming a cornerstone of modern grid management. Unlike static ratings, DLR adjusts transmission capacity in real time based on environmental conditions such as temperature, wind speed, and solar radiation. This allows utilities to safely increase line throughput—often by 30 to 40 percent—without compromising reliability. Ampacimon’s DLR solutions empower grid operators to make smarter decisions, reduce bottlenecks, and accelerate the integration of renewable energy sources.

As the energy transition accelerates, utilities face growing pressure to do more with existing infrastructure. DLR offers a proven, cost-effective way to enhance grid performance without building new lines. Ampacimon’s technologies are already helping utilities across North America and Europe achieve these goals, and our presence at CIGRE Canada 2025 reflects our commitment to driving innovation in this space. By combining advanced sensing, predictive analytics, and strategic partnerships, we are helping shape the future of transmission system operations.
