Ampacimon at CIGRE Paris Session 2026

Ampacimon will be exhibiting at the CIGRE Paris Session 2026, the world's leading event for power system expertise, gathering over 11,000 power industry specialists, 4,500+ delegates and 300+ exhibitors from 99 countries at the Palais des Congrès from 23 to 28 August 2026. The Paris Session is the biennial reference for transmission and distribution professionals tackling grid reliability, renewable integration, interconnection queues and the energy transition – and Ampacimon is proud to be part of it once again.

Visitors can meet the Ampacimon team at Booth A30 to discuss how Dynamic Line Rating (DLR) and Partial Discharge (PD) Monitoring are being deployed at full operational scale to relieve congestion, defer CAPEX, integrate renewables faster and strengthen asset reliability.

Unlocking grid potential under structural stress

Transmission and distribution networks are operating under unprecedented pressure. Surging electricity demand from electrification and data centers, more frequent extreme weather events, and the integration of variable renewable generation are pushing existing infrastructure closer to its operational limits. At the same time, traditional reinforcement projects – reconductoring or rebuilding lines – require multi year lead times, complex permitting and significant capital, while interconnection queues keep growing and redispatch costs continue to climb.

Grid enhancing technologies offer a complementary, fast to deploy answer. Dynamic Line Rating enables utilities to move beyond conservative static ratings and understand the real time thermal capacity of overhead lines under actual operating conditions – typically unlocking 20–40% additional capacity – while maintaining safety margins and operational control. Partial Discharge Monitoring, in parallel, gives operators early visibility on insulation degradation in cables and rotating machines, extending asset life and preventing costly failures.

An end to end approach to DLR and PD monitoring

Ampacimon provides a complete, end to end Dynamic Line Rating solution designed for operational use across transmission and distribution networks. Our approach combines best in class DLR sensors (Sense, Sense D and the drone installable Sense X), patented physical and analytical models, AI/ML based forecasting algorithms, and the enterprise grade GridBoost® software platform – available both on premise and in the cloud, engineered to meet utility grade requirements for cybersecurity, NERC CIP compliance, FERC 881 and FAC 008 readiness, and seamless IT/OT integration.

Beyond DLR, Ampacimon's BlueBox Technology product line delivers field proven Partial Discharge Monitoring for high voltage cables, rotating machines and substation assets – combining advanced sensors, signal acquisition technologies and AI driven diagnostics.

From concept to operational reality

Dynamic Line Rating has been discussed within the industry for many years, but most offerings remain limited to trials or narrowly scoped pilots. Ampacimon's DLR technology has moved beyond that stage. Today, our solution is used in production by Tier 1 transmission and distribution utilities – including Elia, RTE, PPL Electric Utilities, Nova Scotia Power, National Grid, Statnett, TenneT and Powerlink – supporting day to day operational decision making, congestion management and grid resilience at full network scale.

With over 15 years of proven expertise, several patents, 1,500+ lines monitored through software and 250+ lines equipped with sensors worldwide, Ampacimon is the global leader in Dynamic Line Rating and the only DLR solution that has passed the pilot stage on both sides of the Atlantic.

4 papers presented at CIGRE Paris 2026

Ampacimon experts have been selected to present four technical papers during this edition of the Paris Session – one on Dynamic Line Rating and three on Partial Discharge monitoring – reflecting the depth of our R&D across grid enhancing technologies and asset condition monitoring.

Dynamic Line Rating

  • DFOS based monitoring on TenneT's network – a joint contribution with TenneT exploring how Distributed Fibre Optic Sensing enables real time monitoring and Dynamic Line Rating on long transmission corridors.

Partial Discharge Monitoring

  • Novel passive signal acquisition system for PD monitoring of very long cables based on optical fibre (Study Committee B1 – Insulated Cables) – a breakthrough approach for monitoring extra long HV cable systems.
  • Applied use of AI for stator winding insulation diagnosis using online PD monitoring (Study Committee A1 – Power Generation) – combining online PD measurements with AI to support asset management of rotating machines.
  • Sensitivity analysis for the different types of Partial Discharge sensors related to the measured installation – a comparative study guiding utilities in selecting the right PD sensing strategy per asset type.

The full poster sessions and group discussion meetings schedule will be available on the official CIGRE Paris Session 2026 program.

Why visit Ampacimon at Booth A30

Stop by Booth A30 to discover, hands on:

  • The GridBoost® platform – the grid capacity optimization platform delivering real time DLR, Ambient Adjusted Ratings (AAR), Facility Ratings and 10 day forecasts, scalable from a few lines to a full network.
  • The Sense, Sense D and Sense X sensors – the only DLR sensors capable of measuring wind speed directly at the conductor level thanks to Ampacimon's patented vibration based methodology, providing unmatched accuracy and reduced uncertainty.
  • The OPGW based DLR solution co developed with AP Sensing, leveraging fibre optic acoustic sensing on optical ground wires to monitor up to 100 km from a single hardware unit.
  • The BluBox Technology Partial Discharge product line for HV cables, switchgear and rotating machines.
  • Case studies from Elia, RTE, PPL Electric Utilities and Nova Scotia Power, demonstrating real world results: $76M congestion savings in one year at PPL, 22% extra cross border exchange capacity at Elia, deferred line investments at RTE.
