IEEE Concapan 2026
Meet Ampacimon at CONCAPAN 2026
From November 11 to 13, Ampacimon will be at IEEE CONCAPAN XLIV at the Westin Camino Real in Guatemala City, alongside CFS, our partner in Central America. Visit us at booth 59-69 to see how our Partial Discharge (PD) Monitoring solutions detect insulation defects in cables, transformers, switchgear and other high-voltage assets.
About CONCAPAN
CONCAPAN is the IEEE's annual convention for Central America and Panama. It brings together academia, industry and the public sector, with more than 1,000 participants and a technical exhibition of over 110 stands. At the CFS booth, we'll present our PD monitoring solutions, powered by BlueBox Technology.
Partial discharges are small electrical discharges that only partly bridge the insulation between conductors. They are often the first sign of insulation degradation and, if left unchecked, can lead to insulation breakdown and unplanned outages. Monitoring them helps maintenance teams find defects early, assess how critical they are and plan repairs.
Spot testing and continuous monitoring
Spot testing with PD Pico and PDSolver
Our spot testing solution combines PD Pico, a portable system for on-site PD measurement campaigns (commissioning, maintenance or defect finding), with the PDSolver software, which runs on a laptop. Together they identify the type, location and severity of PD defects automatically and produce easy-to-use reports, so any technician can run a campaign without specialist PD knowledge.
Continuous monitoring with SmartVisor and PDEye
Our continuous monitoring solution relies on SmartVisor, installed permanently on critical assets. It collects data from PD sensors, and it can also measure temperature, humidity, pressure and faults. PDEye, our AI platform, analyzes the data and sends alerts showing the defect type, location and criticality. It works with sensors from any manufacturer, runs in the cloud or on-site, and connects to SCADA and asset management systems.
Assets we monitor
Our solutions cover assets across transmission and distribution grids: cables, transformers, switchgear, GIS, motors and generators. They support different insulation types: air, solid, oil and SF6.
Noise filtering and AI diagnosis
Online PD measurements are often affected by noise, and several defects can appear at the same time. Our solutions combine a patented automatic noise filtering algorithm, defect location through sensor synchronization, clustering of different PD phenomena and AI diagnosis. The AI is trained on more than 1,000 cases and 10 years of data history, with a 98% success rate. PDEye started in 2021 as an innovation project with Red Eléctrica and is now one of the maintenance tools used by Redeia.
From blackout to monitoring
Spot testing and continuous monitoring can also be used together, as at Madrid-Barajas Airport. A one-hour blackout at the airport was traced back to partial discharges at a transformer connection. Portable measurements then found several PD sources in other accessories, which were repaired and measured again. The airport later installed permanent monitoring on a new 45 kV double-circuit cable, 4,135 meters long.
Meet us in Guatemala City
Whether you're planning commissioning tests on new cables or looking to monitor aging assets, come and talk to us at booth 59-69. You can also book a meeting with our team ahead of the event.
